Shazon Shopper updated and ready for cupcake

We released version 1.2 of "Shazon Shopper for Amazon" today.

The biggest change is that this version works with Android 1.5 with Cupcake. (And it still works with Android 1.1, of course.) T-Mobile had planned to update everyone "by the end of May", but they had to delay things a week. Now, T-Mobile plans to have everyone updated by "early June.".

We also fixed an annoying problem with the scanner. Sometimes, it would get stuck unable to scan barcodes. Everything looked ok, but it simply wouldn't "see" the barcodes. Although restarting the application would get things working again, this was frustrating. Just as I was about to make this release, I found a way to make this happen consistently. And once I had that, it didn't take too long to diagnose the problem and fix it. I feel good about putting that problem to rest.

So, should you update your version of Shazon? Yes! The update is worthwhile just so that the scanner works better. Plus, you'll be ready for Android 1.5 when T-Mobile rolls it out to your phone.

Just in case you're wondering: you can see what version of Android you are running by running "Settings" (hey, that's right next to the "Shazon" icon!), scroll to ""About phone", and then look at "Firmware version". Today, my phone says "Firmware version 1.1". After I install the cupcake update, it should say "Firmware version 1.5".
