"Shazon Shopper" updated today

We just released a small change to Shazon for Android. This is version 1.1, and it replaces the original version 1.0. Even though it has only been two days since we launched, we discovered some performance problems that we wanted to get fixed right away.

We fixed two performance problems: First, we made the price search twice as fast. You should notice that what used to take 7 to 10 seconds now takes just 3 or 4. Second, we made the scrolling in the results list much smoother. In the first release, scrolling was jerky at best (especially on a slow 3G connection). With this new release, the results scroll smoothly. You might notice that it takes a couple seconds to get the product images, but at least you can read the descriptions and prices while Shazon fetches the images from the web.

How can you tell what version you have? Well, if you start Shazon and press the MENU button, and then tap "About", the dialog box will show you. If it does not show a version number, then you have the first version. If it says "Shazon Shopper, v1.1" then you have the latest one. (At least for now.)

Also, I'm happy to report that the Android Market shows that we have had more than 100 downloads. (We had our first two less than two hours after uploading.) Our own reports show that people are using Shazon to scan barcodes and to search Amazon quickly. (If you haven't discovered this yet, when you open the keyboard, you get a search box where you can type a search phrase).
